Kunigunde Gräfin von Trier und Ardennes, Gräfin von Trier und Ardennes, Nickname: Cunégonde, Cunegundis, Kunigund, Kunigunde Countes, daughter of [Unknown] and Ermentrude de France . Born 885-895 of, , Alsace-Lorraine, France, died 923 PARENTAGE: Possible father, Regnier I. KINSHIP: Identity> She is the niece of King Ludwig the Stammerer Schwennicke vol 1.2 table 202 CONFLICT: Several sources have been used to compile the information for Kunigunde. Schwennicke vol 1.2 table 202 does not give her a title or a designation other than her given name. Her parentage is not given. Cawley's Medieval Lands http://fmg.ac/Projects/MedLands/ LOTHARINGIAN%20(LOWER)% 20NOBILITY.htmToc327808757 gives Kunigunde's mother but not her father from a charter from Charles III "le Simple" King of the West Franks and gives her a possible birth date[895] and death date of [930/40]. Schwennicke lists a Questionable son Siegfried which Cawley does not list. His parentage is very questionable. Yet because he has been listed as a possible son of Wigerich and Kunigunde Cawley indicates that Siegfried's lineage as a son of Wigerich or Rikwin (Kunigunde's second spouse) is not probable from a cronology standpoint. However, we have left the lineage as it was recorded by Schwennicke. Patrons using this file should tread lightly in downloading this family into their personal files. As has been shown above his parentage is questionable. CONFLICT: Schwennicke vol 2 table 1 has been listed a a source for Kunigunde. This is in error. She is not listed anywhere on that table. Vol 2.1 table 202 does not list her as the Grafin von Trier und Ardennes As indicated above, her name has not been given a further designation or title. Cawley also does not give her any title or designation other than her gien name. DEATH DATE: The death date of 923 for Kunigunde is only approximate as that is the year that Richwin her second spouse was murdered in that year. There is some speculation that she married a third time but no source has been identified with that information.
