In the 1910 Federal Census there is a record of Phillip B. Swann age 22 and single who is an inmate in the Government Hospital for the Insane. He is listed as born in maryland as are his unnamed parents. His occupation is listed as an Attendent Nurse. I have a scanned copy of the Census record.

In the 1940 Federal Census of the District of Columbia it is recorded that on East Capital Street, Phillip B. Swann, age 49 was living with his wife Estelle who was 56 with their sons Phillip B. Jr age 21, Kenneth age 19 and son Martin B age 16. Also listed as lodgers in the same house are George G. Jones age 65 and Margaret E. Watts age 57. The father Phillip is listed as a Guard at the U.S. Government Printing Office. Phillip Jr is listed as a worker in the Newspaper business and son Kenneth is listed as a laborer in the Wholesale Foods industry. The parents are listed as born in Maryland, the children born in the District.
